Kimberlee Brooks is a Family Nurse Practitioner who has cared for patients of all ages in close collaboration with Dr. Cooke for the past several years at Renewed Health (formerly Community Urgent Care of Fultondale). There she has gained invaluable experience walking alongside patients through chronic diseases, acute illnesses and assisting them on their wellness journey.

She graduated with her masters in nursing with the Family Nurse Practitioner program at UAB in 2016 where she also received her Bachelor’s in Nursing in 2014. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Children’s of Alabama on the kidney and liver transplant unit/GI & endocrinology floor before transitioning to work as a CRNP in 2016 with Provider Health Services, specializing in geriatric care. She joined CUCF in August of 2019.

She and her husband have three beautiful children. She was born and raised in Memphis, Tenn. but has lived in Birmingham for the past 12 years and considers this home.

Dr. Cooke is a board-certified Family Medicine Physician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Cooke received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in 2001 from LSU before earning his MD from Saba University School of Medicine in 2007. He completed his Family Medicine residency training at The University of Alabama School of Medicine where he served as Chief Resident in 2010.

He is the founder and sole provider at Olympus Direct Primary Care. Dr. Cooke has worked in a variety of clinical settings that include urgent care clinics, traditional primary care clinics, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, multiple telemedicine platforms, and now direct primary care.

He chose to start Olympus Direct Primary Care in order to bring a more affordable and personalized approach to healthcare and to free himself and his patients from the barriers that traditional fee-for-service medical practices create. He believes that the Direct Primary Care model provides an environment in which the patient can regain control over their own health without the burdensome regulations and crippling costs usually encountered in fee-for-service practices.

Dr. Cooke enjoys reading fiction (especially Steinbeck) and a good historical text or biography every now and then! What he enjoys most, however, is spending time with his wife and children and watching his family grow as they move forward together through life.

He approaches each of his patients as if they were his own family members and is determined to provide the quality of care that each of us deserves.
